About 10Best's Long Island Nightlife Selections:
It's not a stretch to think of Long Island as a rec room for the New York elite, as we frequently read about NYC's young, wealthy and famous heading to the Hamptons for a week of R and R. That in mind, the quality of Long Island nightlife shouldn't surprise you all that much – after all, once the sun goes down, all those folks accustomed to the action of the big city need somewhere to spend their time and money, right? Comfortable neighborhood pubs and martini lounges are standard scenery in areas like Huntington. To the east, in the Hamptons, patrons get a mix of quiet taverns, beat-driven nightclubs, and music venues like legendary Stephen's Talkhouse in Amagansett, which hosts everybody from James McMurty to Rickie Lee Jones to Taj Mahal. In fact, live music is also a frequent and popular feature in many Nassau and Sussex County institutions such as the IMAC, a jazz mecca in Huntington, and Mulcahy's Wantagh pub, where the monthly lineup may include hair bands, tribute rockers, and even Irish folk.
