EAST MEADOW.   Acclaimed by national publications – "Newsweek," "Wine Spectator," and the "New York Times" among them – the Carltun's elegant Palm Court restaurant takes opulence and luxury to a completely new level. The main dining room seems to have been taken from a Fitzgerald novel: French fabric panels, ornate light fixtures, and legendary "flying monkeys" (oil paintings adorning ceiling panels). In fact, aesthetics are bested only by cuisine, and Sunday brunch earns particular attention, with its complimentary Mimosas and Bloody Marys and impressive, four-course affair. Reservations are a must.   (© 10Best)

The atmosphere is elegant. The service was friendly, there whenever needed and completely knowledgable about the food. The food preparation was thoroughly artistic and tasteful beyond tasteful. My son had his wedding here and, though I've lived in East Meadow since 1986, I only discovered this restaurant then (incredibly) and have been to it 7 times since, always having a consistantly 5 star experience. With the wide choice in food, and if you enjoy wines that too, this is, by far, as best as it can get.

This was the WORST restaurant I've ever eaten in. The food was either poorly cooked or served cold. The staff treatment of our party of seven---there for an 80th birthday party--was beyond rude. When we tried to take photos of our celebration after dinner we were SCREAMED at to get out of an empty room. The message could have been given politely. We weren't drunk or rowdy, and fairly sophisticated diners. I used to work for Travel & Leisure magazine. This treatment of customers would have them NOT mentioned in the magazine, probably ever. Appalling and completely unprofessional behavior of their staff. No wonder the dining room was only 1/4 full on a Friday evening. Who wants to be treated like that AND pay for an overpriced, poorly cooked meal?
