The rich mosaic of Los Angeles's population – composed of people from 140 different countries – affects every aspect of city life. This international mélange is perhaps nowhere better expressed than in LA's robust roster of annual events. Almost every month sees an arts festival, music concert, parade, or food cook-off that celebrates a country's particular customs while educating and entertaining attendees. From Japanese and Vietnamese New Year celebrations in January to the much-anticipated Festival Navideño en la Calle Ocho in December, the city's events display not only its cultural riches but a playful sense of fun.
