VIEW PARK.   For over 30 years, Babe's & Ricky's has been bringing live blues to LA music lovers. Past guests have included notables like Duke Ellington, B.B. King, John Lee Hooker, Eric Clapton, and Big Mama Thornton. The fantastic house band plays every weekend, and Monday night's jam session is a popular training ground for up-and-coming young artists. With inexpensive drinks and authentic fried chicken and soul food, the club is a fun place for just about everyone who walks through the door!   (© 10Best)

Great Blues in a down-home friendly atmosphere. The Blues ranges from Chicago style to Austin Texas with a whole-lot of styles in-between. The Musicians and Bands are always excellent. This place is truly about the Blues; it’s the music and the way it makes you feel. Even the customers are nice; it’s a great place to take a date. You’ll meet musicians and other blues fans in an atmosphere that once visited, will make you a fan for life. Babe's & Ricky's is the antithesis of commercial blues clubs where they herd you in like cattle and treat you even worse. And the best thing about Babe and Ricky’s is the owner Momma; She is the Blue’s own surrogate mother in LA, who loves all her musicians and customers and makes each one feel at home.

I went on a Monday night, and for $5, got not only top-notch, shack-shakin' blues but friendly people, a great down-home Southern buffet, and an entrance into a side of LA most people don't know about. Honest, warm, full of life and rich with character, everyone has to go here once just to be a part of energy uncommon among this glitzy city.
