5. Morgan's Encore

SAN JOSE DEL CABO.   The second outing for chef Peter McGeown and designer Morgan MacLeod, this top notch restaurant is set in a renovated historic home. If Mexico's heat has taken its toll, you'll appreciate the casually elegant main floor dining room, but the open-air second floor is quite appealing in its own right. Although the original Morgan's is firmly rooted in Italian-Mediterranean tradition, Chef McGeown takes a Continental turn here, creating excellent renditions of staple dishes like lamb shanks, pork tenderloin and fresh fish.
