CABO SAN LUCAS.   A big open space with direct sightlines of both the busy kitchen and the vivid blue Sea of Cortez ensures that the eyes have as much to feast on here as the taste buds. French-Mediterranean cuisine is the order of the day, complemented by a strong wine list and top-notch service. The restaurant uses locally caught seafood, organically grown produce, and fresh herbs and spices, resulting in fabulous dishes like ragout of frog legs and escargot with shiitake mushrooms, garlic purée and parsley butter; grilled sea scallops with chanterelles; and roasted veal chop with shallot confit. Accompanied by bright vegetables and indulgent sauces, each creation is a triumph. French Riviera started out as bakery, and they are adept at desserts – save room for the Valrhona chocolate mousse or roasted nectarines with cinnamon bread crumbs.   (© 10Best)
