The city of Lyon established a four-year campaign to restore and preserve this artistic and historic site. Built in the 1880's by architect G. Andre, this theater is one of the most representative of Italian-style theatres. Although it was scorched by fire twice, the rebuilt theater is still home to impressive Renaissance decoration and paintings. The painting "La Comedie d'Aristophane" by J.
