CAPITOL SQUARE.   A simple, elegant dining room sets the scene for this wonderful restaurant, whose chef-owners trained at nearby L'Etoile. The accomplished cuisine relies on fresh, seasonal ingredients and may feature buttermilk and dill-roasted chicken, seared wild striped bass with Manila clams, Black Angus New York strip, or tomato-saffron risotto with summer vegetables. Lovely presentation and incomparable flavor distinguish each dish, and sidewalk dining is available when the weather's mild.   (© 10Best)

This restaurant was one of the nicer restaurants I have seen in Madison. The food was good and the atmosphere in the restaurant was very relaxing with very polite staff. Went on Valentine's Day and prices are higher but you are also given a fair share of "taste and wine testing" Would recommend to others.

We just enjoyed a wonderful meal at Harvest. An attractive restaurant, simply laid out. Very friendly wait staff and interesting, locally sourced food. The portions are small, but at the end of the meal we both were happily full. The wine list looks extensive but their by-the-glass selection was minimal. The Bordeaux was OK...nothing exciting, and the New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc was bland. I had a delicious NY strip steak, beautifully cooked, juicy and mineraly sourced from a local farm. It was served with sauteed brussel sprouts, wild mushrooms and rice grits. My wife had the rack of lamb that was less successful, the meat was fine but not sublime and the accompanying vegetables were uninspired. Dessert was a pear tart served with (imaginatively) sweetened micro greens. The pastry was incredibly short but the dessert needed some lubrication, creme fraiche or thick cream....this is Wisconsin, surely serving some dairy with dessert is mandatory. Overall, we left very happy. It was a rare treat for us to enjoy such a nice meal and enjoy it we did.
