Diners at Casa Mingo share long wooden tables, creating a unique visitor/local camaraderie. The specialty of the house is roasted chicken. The only additional items on the menu are salads and sausages. ATOCHA. Casa Paco is Madrid's finest steak house. The meat is exquisite, and the service mirrors the quality of food. Casa Paco's trademark is that all steaks are served on plates hot enough to continue to cook the meat while it is at your table. There are other options besides steak, including sole or baby lamb. Frenchman Jean Pierre Vandelle created this restaurant in praise of Spain's olive oil and sherry. Specialties include grilled filet of monkfish and four different preparations of codfish served together with pil-pil sauce. Another famous dish is the foie gras with sherry and red fruits. CENTRO. Tucked off a corner in a building dating from 1616, "The Caves of Luis Candelas" serves succulent roast pig and lamb, garlic soup and wonderful tapas (appetizers). Portions are generous, and the interior is startlingly authentic Spanish although due to its picturesque location, most diners are tourists.
