ATOCHA. This arch marks an important crossroads of the city. The route here connects the city with suburban areas across the Manzanares River. Centrally located point in the city, and companion to Puente de Toledo. Metro: Pirámides or Marqués de Vadillo

CENTRO. This 1850 neoclassical-styled theater has long stood at the pinnacle of Madrid's culture. Closed in 1988 for structural renovations, the theater was re-opened to international applause in 1997. Plush decor makes this a popular spot to see an opera or ballet production. METRO: Ópera
