CONCORD.
History buffs can recapture a bit of American history when they pay a visit to this charming little town, site of the first battle of the War for Independence. While sites like the Minute Man National Historical Park preserve the city's important role during the Revolution, the city is also a mecca of American literature, once serving as the stomping grounds of Emerson, Thoreau, and Hawthorne. Shoppers, though, will find Concord of particular interest, as the town is home to several unique bookshops, antique stores, and traditional small-town clothiers.
