The train station first opened in 1848 while its massive stairway (comprised of 104 steps) was later added in the 1920s. The stairway has been featured in several movies and connects the train station with the city center. The Oriental decor is offset by a series of statues commemorating the city's commercial prowess. Commissioned by Second Empire prefect de Maupas and completed in 1866. The private apartments have been frequented by numerous international dignitaries. They are marked by striking statues, fountains, and medallions. Located within close proximity of the U.S. Consulate, the town center, and the rue Saint-Ferreol. METRO: Estrangin Préfecture

Formerly the city's hospital, this beautiful building dates back to the 18th century and has seen numerous additions, the last being in 1866. It is located near the Accoules Bell Tower. Renowned for its magnificent staircase designed by Esprit Brun. METRO: Vieux Port

This splendid 1656 building reflects period architecture and symbolizes France's democracy. Built on the site of the old Town Meeting House (where the city's council has met since Medieval times), the building presently serves as the office building for the town hall and municipal councilors. Built between 1858 and 1870, the palace is offset by the beautiful Pharo Garden and a 1923 monument honoring the victims of the sea.
