2. Diamant Plage

LE DIAMONT.   Located on Martinique's southwest corner, Diamant is one of the island's larger beaches, spanning approximately five km. A favorite with sunbathers and beachcombers, Diamont enjoys a certain freedom from the large crowds that tend to congregate at the northern beaches, thanks in large part to rough waters that tend to eschew swimming. Rocher du Diamont, situated just offshore, was the site of a colonial "playground" for AWOL British soldiers; today, however, it is a haven for divers and snorkelers.   (© 10Best)
