8. Marie-Sainte

FORT-DE-FRANCE.   Break from shopping along Rue Victor-Hugo and take lunch at Agnés Marie-Sainte's cozy little hideaway, which seems almost out of place on this bustling strip. The restaurant's interior bears no pretensions, with smooth paneling and tiled tables giving the place a touch of country charm. Creole dishes dominate the menu, with house specialties including colombo of mutton, crawfish, conch fricassee, and daube de poisson (braised fish).
