LAHAINA.   Historic attractions in Hawaii often reveal the United States' role in the development of these islands as a sovereign state, and the Baldwin Home is no exception. Facilitated by missionary Dwight Baldwin, this Maui historic site in Lahaina once held a school where many native Hawaiians first learned to read and write, in both English and Hawaiian.
