4. Kimo's

Bad Experience @ Kimo's
We called two days ahead to make a reservation at Kimo's on our last evening in Maui. We arrived 15 minutes before our reservation and were told that it would be another 30 to 45 minutes if we wanted to be seated upstairs were we had originally requested to be seated. We reluctantly went to the bar area to order a drink, sit and wait. After waiting over 30 minutes past our reserved time we told the hostess that would take the next available table. Hunger was starting to set in. Our name was called a few minutes later and we were moved over three table from where we had been sitting in the bar ... ??? When the "bread" girl finally arrived at our table she dropped the butter off the edge of her tray. It hit the stone floor and splashed up my side. Not to worry, she was pleased that she had more butter on her tray. She then warned us of the now slippery floor. No apology. She was CLUELESS!!! Eventually our dinner order was taken. It took an extremely long time for our food to arrive at the table. In the mean time ... heat, humidity, butter ... &^%$#@! You can only imagine. Made for a very uncomfortable evening for me. The food was not that great and we would think long and hard before returning to the restaurant again!!! Not a good last night in Maui!

I f you can, get a table at waterside. This is one of the oldies but goodies of Maui. We've dined there at least a dozen times over the years and we always come back. Even if you're not going to dine there, it has one of the most atmospheric bar areas in all the islands---don't miss this spot!!!
