Horrible Restaurant
This place could very well be an excellent restaurant, even though it is located in the basement of a condo complex.
Prices are high, especially considering the two different fish and preparations we chose were bland. They didn't even salt/pepper the filets. The fish itself was fresh, but overcooked and the cooks should be ashamed for what they sent out.
The worst part is the 'service.' Slow, rude, curt, and dismissive. You can tell they recognize, treat, and are very nice to their regulars and locals who they call by name, but if you are a visitor, watch out. They know they only have to deal with you while you are in Maui and probably won't see you again and take advantage of that fact.
The fish and chips at Maui Brewing Company was a far better taste of local fish with good beer and fair prices.
Maalea Waterfront should be avoided at all costs, unless you are local and they know you.
Paying high prices for crap food and service leaves a bad taste in your mouth, but the taste is still better than their entrees.

Some of the worst seafood I have EVER tasted! It doesn't come anywhere close to Mama's Fish House. Even casual Eskimo Candy the fish market does it better. I will give it kudos for a terrific caesar salad and decent service. We had two different types of fish with two different preparations and neither one of us could finish it. Island style Ono with some bay shrimp dumped on it, slathered in coconut milk, horrible!

Great place; it's easily the best restaurant on the island. Not pricey or pretentious. Always predictably excellent!
