1. Alex Haley House Museum

Alex Haley's famous book, Roots, chronicled the lives of his enslaved ancestors from the pre-Civil War era till they achieved freedom. The book and subsequent miniseries have educated and informed many people about the horrors of slavery and the long road to freedom. Mr. Haley's childhood home gives visitors a chance to learn more about the well-known author. Folks can also visit the Haley family burial site, located nearby.
