5. Memphis Italian Festival

The Buzz -- Memphis's Italian community puts on a three-day show every summer, much to the city's delight. Crafts, games, music, and events entertain the crowd, but the main attraction is food. Vendors set up booths that feature pizza, meat and cheese trays, and spaghetti and meatballs for people who want a quick bite (or three). Cooking contests, bocce and volleyball tournaments, grape stomping, and old-fashioned pizza tossing offer just a taste of the fun-packed schedule. Luigi-Land, a kids' area, makes the festival a winner for families.
