DOWNTOWN. Not a traditional Memphis blues club, King's Palace is devoted to the smooth strains of jazz. The club is worth visiting for many reasons, not least of which is the cool cat with the horn who hangs out at the door. Folks also know that the rustic little bar is one of the best places on Beale Street for good food, especially award-winning gumbo. King's Palace also does well by their shrimp and crawfish etouffee and shrimp velvet. When the weather's warm, look for live jazz on the patio.
