EAST MEMPHIS.   Don't think that Jarrett's will be short on creativity just because you find it located in a shopping plaza. Chef Richard Farmer creates superb cuisine with interesting combinations, such as the prawns with macadamia nut barbecue sauce or the roasted pork tenderloin on onion-apple compote and applejack-sage demiglace. A favorite is the smoked Tennessee trout ravioli with Arkansas razorback caviar. Attentive service complements the meal. A shady area with patio dining is available for warm nights. The food at Jarrett's is hit or miss. Some things are good, some are not very good at all, and there is nothing that I would call great. But the food doesn't justify the amount that they overcharge you. This is an expensive restaurant, which would be fine if the food was worth it, but it isn't.

Trout ravioli are wonderful...very imaginative food, yet old standards available for the less adventuresome. Wonderful fish, duck, beef. Desserts are great.
