Corky's was quite simply our hands-down favorite.

EAST MEMPHIS.   The original location of a now-regional chain, Corky's can ship to you if you're not near a franchise. However, when you're in Memphis, you won't mind waiting in line for the place's incredible pulled pork shoulder barbecue. Whether you choose ribs or a pork platter, you're sure to get a tasty, lip-smacking meal. Go early to avoid crowds, and don't forget to check out walls papered with customer endorsements.   (© 10Best)

Pleasantly surprised
Honestly, I was expected Corky's to suck. Given that they're a chain and the associated issues with that - I didn't think they'd bee all that good. I should have thought of Jim and Nick's though (a chain with some amazing food!). Corky's isn't the best in Memphis, but they have some very good things going for them. Their brisket is moist and delicious. Their ribs are what you expect from a Memphis rib (even though they're not as good as Central, Germantown Commissary or the Bar-B-Q Shop). I found their apple-based sauce to be very interesting. At first a very apple-butter taste, but then the barbecue undertone gets you. The best tasting sauce they offer is when you mix the apple with the original. I've only eaten at the Germantown Rd. location, but I was quite happy with them. I'd go again.
