MIDTOWN.   This trendy, festive restaurant is just as the name implies. Set in a 1940s beauty shop, it boasts curler-wearing waitresses and lets guest dine in refurbished hairdryer chairs. Nevertheless, the kitschy theme isn't what keeps the place packed. Its eclectic fare is intriguing yet delicious. From clay pot Thai mussels to apple-smoked, Cuban-style chicken, the menu is an adventure every time.
