DOWNTOWN.
Driving past this dingy hole-in-the-wall, you would never guess the perfection that awaits inside. This franchise of the original Gus's in Mason, Tennessee, has become a Memphis institution based solely on its no-frills approach to fried chicken. Crisp and golden brown on the outside, moist and tender on the inside, it's definitely a sensation you don't want to miss.

Fried chicken will never be the same again.
If you love fried chicken you need to try this. I had the 3 dark meat chicken and fried green tomatoes. Crisp and spicy but not too hot. I will be going back for more before I leave Memphis.

I came to Memphis for barbecue, but left talking about chicken. Gus's Hot & Spicy Fried Chicken was awesome. I have fried and ate alot of chicken and Gus's was some of the best. It is slightly spicy and very moist with a crispy breading. My wife loved the sweet tea (4 glasses worth) while my brother-in-law and I each polished off a 40 ounce beer right from the bottle. You couldn't beat it on a hot July Memphis afternoon! After eating chicken make sure you ask about their pies, we tried Chess Pie for the first time and loved it!

I loved this place. It was the best fried chicken I ever ate. It was not too greasy and the best coating ever. The wait was well worth it! The staff was friendly and nice considering how busy they were. Their iced sweet tea was also soooo good. Not too sweet and not too not sweet:) If you go to Memphis you have to eat here. No matter the wait, you need to stay.
