Fried chicken will never be the same again.
If you love fried chicken you need to try this. I had the 3 dark meat chicken and fried green tomatoes. Crisp and spicy but not too hot. I will be going back for more before I leave Memphis.

I came to Memphis for barbecue, but left talking about chicken. Gus's Hot & Spicy Fried Chicken was awesome. I have fried and ate alot of chicken and Gus's was some of the best. It is slightly spicy and very moist with a crispy breading. My wife loved the sweet tea (4 glasses worth) while my brother-in-law and I each polished off a 40 ounce beer right from the bottle. You couldn't beat it on a hot July Memphis afternoon! After eating chicken make sure you ask about their pies, we tried Chess Pie for the first time and loved it!

I loved this place. It was the best fried chicken I ever ate. It was not too greasy and the best coating ever. The wait was well worth it! The staff was friendly and nice considering how busy they were. Their iced sweet tea was also soooo good. Not too sweet and not too not sweet:) If you go to Memphis you have to eat here. No matter the wait, you need to stay.

Absolutely some of the best fried chicken I have ever eaten. At first glance walking up to the dingy building I did not know what to think, then after waiting 20 minutes it became apparent that this is not a place to go if you are short of time, but dont worry all was soon forgiven. I ordered the 1/2 chicken with a side of rice, and I was completely blown away. This fried chicken was amazing. Crisp spicy coating, that was not greasy. But the most amazing part was the meat itself...I dont know how they did it, but the flavor was everywhere! There is a lot of fried chicken that has a decent coating, but the chicken inside is dry or flavorless. Not here, inside is juicy, spicy, and just a plain ol' miracle. It makes me sad that I live in Wisconsin, and only get to come to memphis for this blessing of the poultry gods a few time a year on business....life just isnt fair.
