2. Catedral Metropolitana

When touring the Zócalo area, be sure to visit the north end where the imposing Catedral Metropolitana resides; it's reported to be the oldest building in Latin America. It's also known for being the final resting place of General José de San Martin, famous liberator of Argentina. The structure's original foundation dates back to the 16th century, and additional building and refurbishing went on until the mid-19th century.   (© 10Best)
