The Buzz -- Held on the 16th day of September, this holiday salutes the beginning of the country's war for independence from Spain. Revelry begins the night before, and parties continue well into the night. It's tradition that at 11pm on the 16th, the nation's president recites the Grito de Dolores (Cry of Dolores) and shouts "Viva Mexico" to crowds in attendance at the Zócalo. Visitors to the city are sure to enjoy the vibrant spirit and energy that pervades the city during this joyous time. |
