BOCA RATON.   Originally envisioned by founder Addison Mizner as a Floridian Venice, Boca Raton was established in the tumultuous decade of the 1920s. Despite the loss of Mizner’s plans due to the floundering real estate market, the city of Boca Raton weathered the storm, and today reflects a decidedly Mediterranean influence that’s readily apparent in its beautiful architecture, great shopping, upscale dining and picturesque recreational areas along the beach.
