A melting pot of cultures, Miami celebrates the many cultural traditions of its people with numerous festivals and parades. Moreover, as an important center for the arts, the city hosts events that promote music, theatre, film or visual arts. Art Deco Weekend focuses on the contributions of an artistic movement that flourished in, and in many ways became synonymous with, Miami; meanwhile the International Film Festival exposes visitors to a fascinating variety of world, documentary and short films. Miami is also a major hub for sports, including professional teams like the NFL Dolphins and NBA Heat as well as big-time collegiate sports courtesy of the University of Miami Hurricanes.
