COCONUT GROVE. The lobby of this resort offers fabulous views of Biscayne Bay as well as of the pool and lounge. The colonial-style facility is located on a private island, so you know you are in for a peaceful retreat. The 85-slip marina and plenty of other water sports keep guests entertained, along with a whirlpool, 12 lighted tennis courts, fitness center, and a jogging path. The 49 rooms are the picture of comfortable elegance, with blond mahogany furnishings, spacious Italian marble baths and private terraces that make the most of the ocean view. Meeting space to accommodate 600. Parking $24/day. Resort fee is 10% of the room rate.

SOUTH BEACH. As South Beach has a wide variety of hotel options, from the basic to the luxurious Loews definitely falls into the latter category. With the beach on one side and busy Collins Avenue on the other, you'll never be far from the action. The two buildings a newer tower and the original Art Deco St Moritz are decorated in a successful blend of Art Deco/contemporary styles. An oceanfront pool and private beach are big draws, as are the hotel's three restaurants and cocktail lounges. Rooms are furnished with all the necessary amenities, and then some. Facilities and services are top-notch, as you'd expect. 790 rooms. Event space for 3000. Valet parking only, $31/night.

SOUTH BEACH. This unique landmark hotel, an Ian Schrager property, is one of Miami's best. The lofty indoor-outdoor lobby is stunning, setting the stage for what will come. Philippe Starck design elements highlight the d้cor rooms and suites are serenely white, with one or two splashes of color, and are furnished with the appropriate upscale amenities. Outside, surrounded by tropical gardens, is a simply gorgeous pool, with an under water sound system and ample room for sunbathing, floating, or just soaking up the scene. The eclectic d้cor inside and out is colorfully stylish and globally influenced throw pillows from Africa complement Italian tables and Mexican tile, with lighting provided by a plethora of metal lanterns. With all this going on, and the beach, too, you probably won't want to spend much time in your room, but here's a rundown all rooms and suites are comfortably austere and equipped with high-speed Internet access, BOSE Wave CD player, mini-bar and Egyptian cotton linens. 384 rooms, suites and bungalows.
