DOWNTOWN. In addition to being a top place to hear live music in the downtown area, this nightspot also serves great all-American food. Tobacco Road has been popular for more than 90 years – the historic restaurant and nightclub is famous for having the first liquor license ever given out in Miami. (It even did steady business during Prohibition.) A lot has changed since the days Al Capone hung out here, though the historic ambience has been appreciatively maintained. For lunch or dinner, the burgers are a phenomenon, with the Road-burger claiming the top spot. Otherwise, try the steak dinner, served with hand-cut fries, or the Otis, a tasty chicken sandwich with cheddar and bacon, served on French bread. Vegetarian options too!
