About 10Best's Miami Restaurants Selections:

A vacation wonderland, by necessity, demands terrific food, and Miami is well-equipped to deliver a culinary rainbow. Just-caught seafood promises a welcome taste of the sky-blue sea, thanks to broiled snapper, stone crab, fried grouper and conch fritters. Similarly pervasive are the many variations of Latin American cuisine: ubiquitous Cuban eateries, enticing Argentinean spots, and fascinating establishments like SushiSamba dromo, which finds parallels in Peruvian, Brazilian and Japanese cuisines. A hometown invention, colorfully dubbed Floribbean fare, marries local ingredients to Caribbean sensibilities, grounding them in Continental technique. It's a movement prevalent in area restaurants, even when menus aren't explicitly devoted to the idea. Of course, dining well is easy, although it can come at a price in exceptional mainstays like Chef Allen's and Mark's South Beach. Lest all hope for affordability be lost, know that South Florida shelters a clutch of budget-friendly eateries, which shirk neither ambience nor excellence. Among them are South Beach's no-frills La Sandwicherie and Pilar Restaurant, a dashing, modern seafood place run by Scott Fredel – Culinary Institute chef, licensed boat captain and competitive fisherman, to boot.

We dined at Creek 28 last night, and had a lovely dinner, in the garden. It is owned & run by Chef Kira Volz, from the Abbey Hotel. The atmosphere is absolutely lovely (in the garden) albeit a bit humid & hot ... But it is very European and the food, or, at least what we ate was wonderful. We began with goat cheese in philo dough with caramalized onions & fruit compote. And for our entrees tried the sea bass which was served on a bed of roast romaine & topped with chopped mushrooms (couldn't figure out what she combined with the mushrooms). The fish was done perfectly... and the flavor combos were lovely.

I think Miami boasts its share of ambitious restaurants where chefs push the envelope ... We dine at Duo in downtown (S Miami Ave at 14) very often, and Maria Frumkin has thrived on a different idea. Her restaurant doesn’t try to dazzle diners with how fancy the food can be. Instead, she revels in the flavor and texture of ingredients, and her creations always, always cozy up to wine, which to me is very important. Make sure you don't miss dessert; Frumkin's experience working at patisseries in France (and at The French Bakery in Bay Harbor) comes across in yummy dessert plates such as a soft, velvety, dulce de leche crème brulee and doughnuts of surprising intensity. Many high-profile chefs get so wrapped up in their fancy presentations and clever ideas that wine becomes an afterthought—not so [with] Frumkin. She and her husband offer pristine, utterly natural food that encourages a good glass of wine to come alive

First class food, first class service. Service was remarkable and NOT stuffy, as some Miami restaurants tend to be. The people were warm and friendly, it was like dining among friends. It was the perfect amount of professionalism and personality. I highly recommend Duo. The food is incredible, well prepared and presented. The desserts are to die for.
