6. Newport Bridge

This bridge, which opened in 1934, was the first vertical lift bridge in England. The central section of the bridge raises to allow ships to pass beneath. A panel next to the bridge tells about its history and development. An evening stroll along the river when the bridge and surrounding area are lit is a lovely experience.   (© 10Best)
