7. African World Festival

The Buzz -- The African World Festival takes place in Maier Park on the banks of Lake Michigan. This annual festival is an opportunity for the community to get together in order to celebrate African culture. Festival activities include exhibits that honor the achievements of famous African Americans, tell the stories of African life and rituals and explain the importance of racial equality. Experience the festival that has been bringing together the Midwestern African American community since 1982.
