DOWNTOWN.   Located in a Japanese pagoda building, Ichiban features a traditional hibachi grill and sushi bar sure to please. Open since 1979, this Minneapolis Japanese restaurant is well known for its all you can eat sushi happy hour, where sushi boats come right to your table and the chefs are always willing to take requests. If you're in the mood for hibachi, head to the dining room where chefs impress on the large flat top grill. After being told there was at least an hour wait at Oragami at the sushi bar (!!!), I headed down to Ichiban. I was glad I did. I was seated immediately and the sushi chef was fantastic, making custom orders while insuring the all-you-can eat boats were full. It also helped that there were nice people sitting at the sushi bar. Fish is good, not great, but there is an incredibly wide selection for an all-you-can-eat setting. The price ($27.95) was right as well.
