SOUTH MINNEAPOLIS.   If you’re dining in Minneapolis on a budget, Scott Ja-Mamas Restaurant is the perfect option. This “hole in the wall” knows how to get to the point – great Minneapolis BBQ. There are only two dining tables, so take-out is usually the way to go. Minneapolis cheap eats here include pork and steak sandwiches, rib racks and chicken; all doused in your choice of mild, medium, or hot sauces.   (© 10Best)

Like one of the other reviewers, I am a BBQ fanatic. I like my 'Q' Carolina, 'Bama, Memphis, Texas or KC style. In other words, I'm not picky. But Scott Ja-Mamas pork sandwich was a disappointment to me. My sandwich was covered in sauce - I mean drenched. If there was any smoky flavor to the meat at all, it was impossible to detect. If I were to go back again, and I probably won't since I didn't like the sauce either (I only tried the hot one -btw, not very hot), I'd ask for the sauce on the side.

Don't waste your time or money. I love ribs and have tried them all over the US. But these ribs were the worst I've ever tried to eat; they were tiny, dry, and had little or no meat. I used the online menu to order 2 full racks for takeout. The cole slaw listed on the online menu was only a piece of whole wheat bread, the online prices were 15% lower than the actual price, and 2 full racks were barely enough for one adult. I'm sure they're great people and they seemed friendly, but the ribs [are horrible]. Don't waste your time.
