10Best's Minneapolis Restaurants
-- Kim Goodin, 10Best Travel Editor
One of the first things you'll discover about the Minneapolis restaurant scene is that local chefs and restaurateurs place a lot of stock in the virtues of organic and locally-produced ingredients, from orchard-fresh produce to homegrown livestock. In fact, you might even say that, much like the BYOB is a defining component of Philadelphia's restaurant landscape, the farm-to-table concept is a primary contributor to the quality of Minneapolis' dining culture. Indeed, there are hundreds of certified organic farmers within an hour or so of town, and it's not uncommon to find your favorite chef snooping around Mill City Farmers Market, East Lyndale Avenue Market, or Nicollet Mall Market, on the prowl for the best the season has to offer. Though organic cookery and creative recipes are standards at places like Mission American Kitchen and JP American Bistro, other area restaurants like Solera (Spanish tapas), Fugaise (French), and Manny's (steaks) promise their own, distinctive experiences and are certainly worthy of the accolades and attention they've received.
