10Best's Minneapolis Events
-- Kim Goodin, 10Best Travel Editor
It's true that winter hits Minneapolis hard – why else would hockey, ice-fishing, and cross-country skiing be so popular? – but there may not be another large metro area in the US where the residents get as much out of spring, summer, and fall, and the annual events calendar certainly reflects this. From farmers' markets, food and wine events, and block parties to marathons, outdoor concerts, and art festivals, the safe bet is something big is going on almost every week in Minneapolis between May and October. Once the brisk air rolls in, residents start gearing up for events like November's Chocolate Extravaganza and Macy's Holidazzle Parade. Pro sporting events are big draws as well, particularly during fall and winter, when folks can cheer on the T-Wolves and Vikings in the warm, climate-controlled confines of the Target Center and Metrodome, respectfully. Local performing arts organizations also make sure each season has its share of Broadway musicals and dramas, and the area museums bring in renowned touring exhibits as well.
