8. Museum of Mobile

DOWNTOWN.   Learn about Mobile's three colorful centuries of history at this downtown complex, where temporary shows chronicle the history of Mardi Gras and the influence of the French in the United States. Permanent holdings include antique furnishings, artwork, and the Discovery Room Interactive Gallery, where visitors take a hands-on approach to history and learn about vendors who once peddled wares in the stalls of the Southern Market. The white, Italianate buildings that house the Museum of Mobile – once the historic Southern Market and Old City Hall – date from 1857.   (© 10Best)
