SPANISH FORT.
Overlooking Mobile Bay, this seafood shack on stilts has earned a fine rep for friendly atmosphere and terrific eats. If it's nice out, find a seat on the patio and watch the tide come in while you wash down fried crawfish with an ice-cold brew or favorite cocktail. The menu features a variety of down-home faves, including fried and grilled seafood platters, Creole-style gumbo, crawfish po'boys, and oyster sandwiches. Hearty appetites should consider tackling Yo Mama's Platter (a mammoth spread of gumbo, garlic cheese grits, greens, flounder, oysters, shrimp, and scallops) – an order not to be taken lightly.

Once again I agree with Porter. We live in Pensacola, Florida and sometimes we travel the 60 some miles over to Mobile because they have better shopping and a great Flea market, anyways we like to try out different seafood restaurants and having had a couple bad meals at the BlueGill and a couple other places we stopped at Ed's and we were not disappointed, the food has been great every time we have stopped plus the view of Mobile bay is great.

Without a doubt the best seafood on the causeway or surrounding area. They are consistent with the quality of their food year round, where many other places are not. They give big portions, and every meal comes with a free appetizer of slaw for the table, and the slaw is delicious. My favorite dish is the fried shrimp and fried oyster combo. The shrimp are always huge, and the oysters are fried to your liking (firm or juicy). An appetizer of fried okra is normally on my agenda as well. As if the food isn't reason enough to dine here, they also have a great view of Mobile Bay, and more often than not, if you look you will see an alligator or two while you are chowing down. I eat here every time I make the trip down to the gulf (about 4 or 5 times a year), and they never disappoint.
