DOWNTOWN DAVENPORT. Located just across the street from Davenport's riverside area, this popular brewpub offers a fairly upscale option to the area sports bars. Red brick walls, exposed ductwork and visible brew equipment give it that classic feel that many, more modern, brewpubs lack. Their home brews include Old Davenport Gold, Bucktown Stout, Raging River Ale and Cherry Ale; however, as good as their beers are, the one thing you should try here are their delicious homemade pretzels, which are served with honey mustard. At lunch, Front Street offers sandwiches as well as a few hot plate specials.

MOLINE. One of the Quad Cities' favorite pizza joints, Happy Joe's is a local business that first opened its doors almost 25 years ago. With over 12 locations throughout the Quad Cities, Happy Joe's serves up great pizza on both sides of the Mississippi. Their specialties include their famous fajita and taco pies – the "Matador" is even topped with refried beans! Just for the record, the "Little Joe" pies will whet your appetite, so you might as well go for the 12" pie. For dessert, you'll want to save room for a double scoop of their special ice cream, or maybe even the tasty "Caramel Fudge Pecan Sundae." Carry out and delivery are available.

ROCK ISLAND. Harris Pizza and the various offshoots offering Harris-style pizza are Quad City staples. Harris's distinctive flavor and style – thin crust, an interestingly spicy and robust sauce, and a signature lengthwise cutting style – has deservedly gained fervent following. If you're visiting the area, Harris is a must-have delicacy. Although there are five Harris outlets, Rock Island's #1 and #2 (within a block of one another) offer the distinct tavern-style, homey and comfortable dining experience.

MOLINE. Remember when Roseanne and Tom Arnold tried to open up a loose meat sandwich franchise in Iowa? Well, they were attempting to copy Maid Rite, which has been satisfying the cravings of Quad Citians for years with their delicious, distinctive sandwiches. Consisting primarily of ground beef served taco-style rather than patty-style, with the usual condiments, Maid Rite sandwiches are a unique taste sensation. The Maid Rite restaurants, true to their '50s diner décor and decorum, also serve generous helpings of affordable, tasty, basic meals. For a thoroughly Midwestern dining adventure, make your way to Maid Rite.

DOWNTOWN ROCK ISLAND. There's little quite as soothing as sipping a cocktail while sitting outdoors and watching the waterfowl glide effortlessly over a sweetly running river. This is what you'll encounter at Martinis on the Rock where you'll find great steaks, chicken and seafood served up within a fun and festive atmosphere. On weekends you'll be entertained by live music on the patio. Being "stuck" inside isn't too bad either where you can meet with friends and play a game of pool or darts while watching a game on TV.

LECLAIRE. Don't let the "hole in the wall" exterior fool you – this is one of the best places in the Quad Cities to grab lunch. Whether you're looking for a great grilled cheese and a cup of thick, homemade beef and noodle soup, or one of their massive "Sneaky Burgers," Pete's has just what you need to satisfy your lunchtime appetite. Locals love Sneaky Pete's for their tasty "white oak" steaks, whose distinctive flavor comes from having been cooked over wood the night before, and smoked catfish. Sampling one of these is a must. Word to the wise, if you come wearing a tie, make sure it is one that you won't mind seeing cut off and hung from the ceiling – hey, it's a tradition. Full bar.
Looking for light and tasty dishes with a quick turn-around time? Or perhaps a power lunch to close the deal? Here, you’ll find the right setting for either! An assortment of decors from casual and sporty to sophisticated and businesslike. You may also find the option of ordering take-out food.
