1. Semana Santa

The Buzz -- Held during Holy Week, Wednesday through Friday before Easter, this annual celebration features a mix of activities that range from religious to secular. Masses are held in churches, while parades, musical performances and barbecues are held in the streets. A popular cycling event as well as a roughrider's competition (known as Semana Criolla) are also held during this celebratory time.
