7. Fasching

The Buzz -- This celebration marks the religious period between Shrove Tuesday and Lent. Fancy-dress balls and parades are abundant in the days before Shrove Tuesday, but on the day itself there are massive festivities centered on the Viktualienmarkt, with crowds fanning out in every direction. Donuts are the "official" Fasching food and they're everywhere - this is not a good time to stick to a diet!
