This German hangout has an eclectic clientele. Close to a university and several publishing houses, it draws both suits and backpacks. The non-smoking section has the best seating, though the patio isn't shabby. After browsing the neighborhood's galleries and boutiques, stop here for a great cup of coffee and some tasty food without the tourist crowds. The wonderful Sunday breakfast stars an assortment of homemade jams and interesting entrees.

ISARVORSTADT. This outdoor café is in a small mall on Lepoldstrasse in the trendy Schwabing district. It features small outdoor tables in the center of the square with umbrellas as well as some indoor seating. With a good assortment of coffees, desserts, and some light German fare, it's a perfect spot to relax and people-watch as you sip an espresso and munch a light snack. Near the Munchener Freiheit metro station.

CITY CENTER - ALTSTADT. This quaint café is located in a premier shopping district and features a good selection of coffees and light dining options. Excellent selection of desserts and ice cream. For more substance, try the antipasta salad or a traditional German entrée. Dine inside or outside to people-watch the city's fashion set. The café is also a perfect place to stop after a morning of shopping and sightseeing.

HAIDHAUSEN - BOGENHAUSEN. This is a great place to come and enjoy your choice of two breakfast options. The "hello-frühstück" includes coffee, tea or chocolate milk, bread, and a croissant with butter and jelly. The "Großes Frühstück" includes all of the above mentioned and a hard-boiled egg and your choice of meat. The dress is casual and the owners are friendly Italians. They also serve dinner and snacks and, of course, beer!

SCHWABING. This fashionable café attracts a hip college crowd for their desserts, coffees, and light meals. Perfect place for a good cup of cappuccino or espresso and a sweet dessert or pastry.
