LITTLE RIVER. The award-winning Parson's Table, housed in a former church, offers true fine dining in an atmosphere of elegance and intimacy. Beautiful stained glass windows dot the interior, which is comprised of several individual rooms that are equally conducive to special family occasions and romantic dinners for two. Menu choices include prime rub, bacon-wrapped filet mignon topped with béarnaise sauce and crab, sauteed shrimp with ham and vegetables over cheese grits, and sauteed shrimp and scallops in lemon butter with pecans and rice pilaf. Wine suggestions accompany each dish, or you may select something from the vast wine list.

BROADWAY. The party of the crazy donkey? Maybe our Spanish isn't as good as it used to be, but if you're looking for good Tex-Mex in a fun and festive atmosphere, this is your place. The menu is loaded with all the favorites, from quesadillas and burritos to Mexican pizzas and fajitas. Great ribs and margaritas, too, and at lunch you can also get salads and interesting sandwiches. A solid choice whenever that craving hits for a little south of the border spice.

MURRELLS INLET. Located on the marsh in an 1860 clapboard house, Oliver's has been a local favorite serving the best seafood since 1910. Incredible seafood served in a rustic and comfortable dining room complete with wood tables and Shaker-style chairs clinging to the walls. The crime novelist, Mickie Spillane, liked this place so much that he got married here.

Flo moved to Myrtle Beach from her native New Orleans in 1972, and she's been serving up fabulous Cajun treats here ever since. The fun and funky ambience is notable for the hats that adorn every inch of available ceiling and wall space, most of them donated by faithful fans. The menu is authentic Cajun, including blackened fish, gumbo, red beans and rice, po' boys, gator stew (yes, it's real alligator), and many other craving-good bayou concoctions that you'll wish you could get in your own hometown. There's also a raw bar if you're inclined to slurping down some oysters, and kids have their own special menu, assuring Flo's a solid future with lots of repeat business.

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH. A bit of a departure from the more family-oriented places that pepper the Strand, SeaBlue is a sophisticated space that caters to diners with discriminating tastes. The dreamy, marine-blue bar area is the perfect place to enjoy a martini, and the intimate, cafe-style tables are smartly appointed with white linens and candles. The tapas-heavy menu allows guests to enjoy several different dishes over the course of their visit, including pan-seared lump crab cakes, Caribbean jerk-rubbed grouper, and petit filet with crumbled gorgonzola and balsamic syrup. Each dish is delivered to the table when it's prepared, ensuring that your group'll have a new topic of conversation every few minutes.

PAWLEYS ISLAND. White linen and candlelight set the tone for an elegant experience at Frank's, one of the very best restaurants in Grand Strand region. The award-winning menu of New American dishes includes several unique seafood preparations such as mussels with cilantro, lemongrass and jalapenos, decadent risotto with shrimp, scallops, and mussels, and seared tuna over Thai rice with warm Asian slaw. While retaining the elegance of its parent, Frank's Out Back (literally a separate restaurant behind the original) puts a new spin on casual dining, with similarly inventive cuisine and the addition of some tasty and unusual wood fired pizzas. Service is top-notch at both.

BAREFOOT. A perennial favorite, Hamburger Joe's provides more bang for your buck than most other Grand Strand eateries, so it's perfect if you're on a budget. In fact, you can probably afford to splurge and get some wings and a beer along with your cheeseburger, which comes heaped with slaw, chili, onions, lettuce, tomato, pickles, or whatever combination you'd prefer. Kids enjoy the fried bologna sandwich, hot dog, or grilled cheese; grown ups appreciate the onion rings – and the fact that they can get a rum and coke or a Long Island Iced Tea with their burger or BLT.

Original Benjamin's is a Myrtle Beach stalwart, loved as much for its gargantuan seafood buffet as for its eclectic nautical decor. Each of the nine dining rooms has plenty to occupy your eyes, including an 800 gallon saltwater fish tank with sharks and eels, museum-quality nautical relics and an impressive collection of model ships. And the buffet is overflowing with calabash-style (fried) seafood, broiled fish, crab cakes and snow crab legs – about 170 items in all, plus impressive salad and dessert bars.
