For beach fun at its natural, undeveloped best, Collier County's Barefoot Beach Preserve gets top billing thanks to its pristine tropical hammocks, tidal creeks and mangrove swamps. The park's unspoiled quality makes it a thriving location for animals like the gopher tortoise and loggerhead sea turtle. This 342-acre beach preserve features a one-mile nature trail, public showers, a picnic area, a concession stand, and equipment rental. The beach is wonderful. Great shelling, so I hear. Great for nature photography, which is why I went there. You should know that it is not free to go there. There's an $8.00 cost for the entire day.
