NORTH NAPLES. Alexander's, located in Park Square near some of the Naples area's finest resort hotels, boasts one of the town's most beloved chefs, Alex Bernard. The restaurant, whose union of American and European cuisines makes it a favorite with locals, offers diners a casual yet contemporary setting. Specialties include Chef Bernard's famous peppercorn tuna and snapper meunière. Salad and pasta dishes are also available.

OLDE TOWNE. This Naples restaurant, located at the Neapolitan Way shopping center, serves excellent traditional Italian cuisine. The atmosphere here is charming and comfortable, and the service is impeccable. Chef Guiseppe Amore's pasta dishes are, in essence, sublime.

NORTH NAPLES. Bha! Bha! is an upscale restaurant that is unique in the Naples area, for it specializes in Persian cuisine. The restaurant's interior is noteworthy for its traditional décor, which includes authentic Persian rugs and artwork. Chef Michael Muir wows patrons with such dishes as basmati rice and duck pomegranate. Be sure to save space for one of Bha! Bha!'s excellent homemade desserts.

OLD NAPLES. This classy Third Street eatery, located in an old mercantile building, is popular in the Naples area. Inside, you'll find an inviting dining area, spacious bar area, and a large, open kitchen complete with a traditional wood-burning oven. The menu bears a definite Tuscan lilt, and Chef Wicklander offers such excellent dishes as baked snapper served with artichokes and potato purée and several homemade pasta dishes.

NORTH NAPLES. This Venetian Bay restaurant serves an excellent lunch menu daily. The cuisine du choix here is, of course, French. The environment is charming and warm, from the flowers on the tables to the beautiful waterside dining area. Specialties include their bouillabaisse, crème brûlée, and sea bass served with fruit chutney and spinach. Marie-Michelle's is a culinary experience not to be missed.

OLD NAPLES. Meson Olé Restaurant, located north of Olde Naples, is one of the town's favorite Spanish/Mexican lunch destinations. The atmosphere is laid-back, and the waitstaff is extremely amiable. Menu options include the standard enchiladas, tacos, and chimichangas, but there are also a few treats on there as well, including Castilian soup and sopaipillas. Meson Olé is also a great place to enjoy a cup of Mexican coffee.

OLD NAPLES. Pazzo! is one of the most reasonably priced Italian restaurants in Naples. The décor at this "crazy" restaurant, purportedly one of the most exciting in town, is modern with a bit of a Southwestern lilt, and the open kitchen adds an air of comfort to the dining area. Menu favorites here include shrimp scampi, homemade pasta dishes, and, of course, the "House Ravioli." The wine list here is quite admirable, and the dessert menu is superb.

OLD NAPLES. If you are in the mood for gourmet-style Italian cuisine, then try Ristorante Ciao on Fourth Avenue South, just one block from Naples's busy "Restaurant Row." This upscale Italian restaurant offers superb entrées such as veal Marsala, veal scalloppine, and fresh seafood and fish dishes.
