This observatory offers one of the best views of the city from its hilltop perch on the hill of Miradois. This facility was founded in 1819 and was the first scientific observatory of its kind in Europe. Still housed in its neo-classical, column-fronted style, part of the structure now explores the history of the study of the heavens. The museum has collections of old scientific instruments, telescopes, and more. Though research is no longer done here, you can still view the stars from the stately domes.
