About Nashville Attractions & Activities
Nashville is a city of music, parks and history, so naturally there are plenty of things to do and see. If you are here for the music, there are plenty of attractions to fulfill the need when taking a break from the shows. With the Country Music Hall of Fame, Ryman Auditorium and Grand Ole Opry, visitors of all ages can explore the roots of Nashville's music scene. Historic sites unrelated to music abound, with plantation homes such as Andrew Jackson's Hermitage leading the way. Museums showcase artwork, provide opportunities to experience the history of the area, and offer botanical gardens where you can forget the busy business scene for a while. The City of Parks offers plenty of choices for an escape to nature, whether you desire a quiet picnic or an invigorating run. Centennial Park, meanwhile, features a full-size replica of the Greek Parthenon, built in 1897 for the Centennial Exposition; it now houses the city art museum. Before the kids tire of museums, take them to the Adventure Science Center, which has plenty of fun hands-on exhibits. Kids will also enjoy the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere, especially when they see the giant playground called the "Jungle Gym." -- Joseph K. Hall Jr., 10Best Editor
