About Nashville Events
Annual events showcase what a city does well. Judging by the thousands of visitors that flock to Nashville each year for various musical festivals and events, Nashville knows how to do music. Country music is the dominant genre, but events such as the Music City Jazz, Blues and Heritage Festival and the massive Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival present other varieties as well. Around the winter holidays, concerts and theater events occur throughout the city as part of the Holiday Harmony celebration, while "Awesome April" witnesses major performances every weekend of the month. Run the Country Music Marathon and Half Marathon in late spring and hear over 50 bands playing along the race route and at the post-race bash downtown. Summer is host to the CMA Music Festival in June and the Music City 4th of July Concert Spectacular at Riverfront Park. Fall brings an array of music events and award shows such as the World of Bluegrass and IBMA Awards, Inspirational Country Music Week and ICM Awards, and the CMA Music Awards. Non-musical events like the Southern Women's Show, Tennessee Renaissance Festival and Iroquois Steeplechase also draw visitors to the city, proving that Nashville is about more than music.
